Europese Parlement stemt in met 9.7 miljoen euro steun voor werkgelegenheid in Duitsland, Denemarken en Portugal (en)

European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aid worth €9.7 million to help find new jobs for 1,783 redundant workers in Germany, Denmark and Portugal was voted by Parliament on Wednesday.

Germany applied for €4.35 million in EGF aid for 778 workers made redundant by five automotive industry firms in Arnsberg and Düsseldorf. The aid was approved with 555 in favour, 65 against and 26 abstentions.

Denmark applied for €3.94 million for 325 workers made redundant by six wind turbine manufacturers in Midtjylland. The aid was approved with 553 votes in favour, 63 against and 24 abstentions.

Portugal applied for €1.45 million for 680 workers made redundant by footwear firm Rohde in the municipality of Santa Maria Da Feira. The aid was approved with 555 votes in favour, 64 against and 25 abstentions.

Following the Parliament's green light, the aid will need to be approved by the Council of Ministers. The Council is to vote on the Danish application on 26 September and the German and Portuguese applications on 4 October.

About the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF)

EGF aid helps find new jobs for workers made redundant due to major structural changes in world trade patterns caused by globalisation or the financial crisis. Its annual ceiling is €500 million.
