The Minister of Justice will present his colleagues with two themes for debate: electronic justice (E-Justice) and child protection. The first of these topics will be debated during the afternoon on October 1st, and the second topic during the morning on October 2nd.

A constructive and guiding debate shall be pursued for the ongoing and future works within the European Union.

The Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the Union in the area of Justice is working so as to present, until the end of the year, a prototype of the internet site for European Justice, which will allow one single access to several electronic instruments and tools, not only for professional people in the area of Justice (magistrates, lawyers, police authorities, etc.) but also for citizens and businesses. Some of the contents in that site may lead to an access to insolvency registers of European businesses and a list of missing children within the Union.

In terms of child protection, an analysis of the situation will be made and proposals on how to improve available protection for minors within the European Union will be looked into, namely within the sphere of cooperation among Member States, in terms of their respective Justice systems.
