Joint statement by European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Avramopoulos and Serbian Minister of Interior Stefanović

We just had a constructive meeting on how to take further action to address the migration flow from Kosovo. Following a technical meeting recently between Serbia and Kosovo, facilitated by the European Commission and EU Agencies, today's political encounter is a proof of our commitment for further collaboration on this delicate matter. Our discussions today focused more specifically on strengthening the control of the Serbian-Hungarian border while preventing irregular migration flows from Kosovo, improving information exchange between the relevant partners - including Frontex, Europol, EASO, but also Hungary, Germany, Austria - and tackling asylum abuse. We intend to further strengthen our mutual exchange of information and collaboration.
