Europese Commissie benoemt nieuw Hoofd van Vertegenwoordiging in Slovenië (en)

Brussels, 1 March 2012 - Today, Ms Nataša Goršek Mencin takes office as the new Head of Representation in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Ms. Goršek Mencin has until now been the head of the European Parliament Information Office in Slovenia, a post where she has developed strong communication and management skills. She brings to her new post knowledge and experience of EU institutions as well as a sound background in media and communication and the creative industries.

Before joining the European Parliament, she pursued a career in the film and TV industries, holding a number of senior editor and producer jobs. She was editor and head of the unit for fiction programmes for TV Slovenia, the main public television broadcaster in Slovenia, from 1994 - 1999, where she gained experience as a journalist, programme editor and executive producer, negotiating and buying in the international audiovisual markets for TV, video and the web. She has also written a large number of screenplays and dramas.

Ms. Goršek Mencin graduated from the University of Ljubljana's Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in 1992. In 2001 she specialised in European integration and EU law at Slovenia's Administrative Academy, where she qualified in 2005 and went on to join the staff of the European Parliament in Slovenia.

Ms. Goršek Mencin's rich and varied experience will enable the Commission Representation in Slovenia to play a key role in communicating with citizens and the media, as well as enhancing relations between the European Commission and national and local authorities and stakeholders.

Background

The Commission has representations in all 27 EU Member States. They inform the media and public about EU policies and report to the Commission on significant developments in the country.
