Tsjechisch voorzitterschap verwelkomt communicatie over 5 jarig jubileum europese uitbreiding (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Tsjechisch voorzitterschap Europese Unie 1e helft 2009, gepubliceerd op vrijdag 20 februari 2009.

The Czech Presidency welcomes the Commission Communication on the five years of an enlarged European Union, published today.

The Communication will be examined in detail at a top-level conference organised by the Czech Presidency in cooperation with the European Commission. The conference is scheduled to take place on 2 March 2009 at the Prague Congress Centre.

Speaking about the Communication, Czech Deputy Prime Minister Alexandr Vondra said: “We welcome the study on the EU enlargement, drawn up by the European Commission - not only because the study was initiated by the Czech Presidency, but above all because its results are definitely good news, and these days good news is scarce. It is important to know, that, on the basis of hard facts, the road we took together five years ago was the right one. The European Union can be rightly proud of its achievements. The study shows clearly that the EU enlargement has brought prosperity to all countries without exception. Knowing this should enable us to look into the future with optimism".
