Statement by Commissioner Bulc on European Parliament's vote on new rules for the road sector

Violeta Bulc, Commissioner for Transport said: "The European Commission welcomes that the European Parliament has completed its first reading on a number of important legislative reforms for the road sector, which are part of the EU Mobility Package. These reforms are essential in order to improve working conditions, reduce administrative burden and to achieve a genuine level playing field for hauliers. They will also ensure a more efficient logistic network to support our economy.

Today's vote now paves the way for inter-institutional negotiations to start in view of adopting the legal proposals in the coming months. The Commission, as always, stands ready to actively participate in these discussions with the European Parliament and the Council."
