30 November: Publication of the Erasmus+ Annual Report 2016 and presentation of the Erasmus+ Generation Declaration

The news:

The European Commission will publish its report on the achievements of Erasmus+, the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport, in 2016. As the year-long campaign celebrating the 30th anniversary of the programme draws to a close, the Commission will also present the Erasmus+ Generation Declaration on its future.

The background:

Each year the Commission presents the main developments in the programme and the facts and figures on how the budget was spent in providing opportunities for millions of Europeans to study, train, volunteer or gain professional experience abroad, as well as on various cooperation projects. As it looks to the future of the programme after 2020, the Commission has invited the Erasmus+ Generation to engage in the debate on what it should look like. Their recommendations will be presented along with the Annual Report.

The event:

11.00: Press point with Commissioner Tibor Navracsics and two representatives of the Erasmus+ Generation, at the Berlaymont VIP Corner.

14.15: Vice-President Jyrki Katainen and Commissioner Navracsics will seal an Erasmus+ time capsule to be opened in ten years' time on the occasion of the 40th anniversary.
