Vervanging van de Portugese plaatsvervangend permanent vertegenwoordiger bij de Europese Unie

De Raad van de Europese Unie is in kennis gesteld van de benoeming door de Portugese regering van ambassadeur Ana Paula ZACARIAS tot plaatsvervangend permanent vertegenwoordiger van Portugal bij de Europese Unie.

Ambassadeur ZACARIAS is op 7 januari 2009 in functie getreden.

Ana Paula Zacarias

Born in Lisbon, on the 5th of January, 1959

Divorced. Two children.

Law studies at the Catholic University of Lisbon.

Degree in Cultural Anthropology by the New University of Lisbon (Universidade Nova de Lisboa)

Professional Activities:

  • 1983 – 1984 – Lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universidade Nova de Lisboa
  • 1983 – Entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • 1983 – 1986 – Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Protocol Service and Europe Department
  • 1986 – 1988 – Counsellor for International Relations at the President’s Office
  • 1988 – 1993 – At the Embassy of Portugal in Washington, USA
  • 1993 – 1996 – Consul of Portugal in Curitiba, Brazil.
  • 1996 – 1998 – Director of the Press and Information Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lisbon. Representative of the MFA to the World Exhibition of Lisbon (EXPO-98).
  • 1998 – 2000 – Vice President of the Cultural Institute Camões, Lisbon
  • 2000 – 2005 – Deputy Permanent Representative of Portugal to UNESCO, in Paris. Permanent Representative to the Union Latine. President of the Executive Council of the Union Latine. President of the Assembly of State Parties to the 1970 UNESCO Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property.

Member of the Jury of the International Prize “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”
