At the beginning of the European Parliament's plenary session, EP's President, Hans-Gert Pöttering, and Secretary of State Assistant and for European Affairs, Manuel Lobo Antunes, paid homage to Euro MP Fausto Correia, who died yesterday in Brussels.
Manuel Lobo Antunes said that the death of Fausto Correira was "a tragic and painful event". He spoke of the example he gave us of engaged citizenship and his fight for liberty and human dignity. "A good man has died", stressed Manuel Lobo Antunes, who also thanked, in the name of the Portuguese Government, the just and heartfelt tribute that the European Parliament paid today to Fausto Correia.
