Informal meeting of Ministers for Agriculture and Fisheries (AGRI) - Montesquieu Institute

The Informal Ministers meeting on agriculture and rural development gathers Ministers from the EU Member States and candidate countries together with the EU Commissioner for Agricultural and Rural Development, the Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Agricultural and Rural Development and members of the Special Committee on Agriculture. The purpose is to have informal debates on current agricultural issues. Besides that the presidency has arranged visits to Danish food producers and special rural areas. There will be separate programmes for ministers’ delegations, for the SCA, for spouses and for the press.

The Council configuration on Agriculture and Fisheries (AGRIPECHE), consists of the Ministers of Agriculture and/or Fisheries of the Member States of the European Union. The Council formally presides a meeting once a month. The Council is free to preside several informal meetings as well.

In the Council of the European Union, the ministers from the EU Member States take a joint decision on the policy to be implemented within the EU. The Council is supported by the Committee of Permanent Representatives, which prepares decisions and guards the implementation and adherence of the decisions monitored by the Council.
