Revision of the Working Time
Directive or “Manchester capitalism” revisited
The GUE/NGL group rejects the Council’s Common Position on the Revision of the Working Time Directive at the Second Reading in Parliament and will call on all other political groups in the European Parliament to do the same. We reject this Common Position because it would lower minimum standards on working time in such a way that the Directive could no longer be regarded as any kind of meaningful protection for the health and safety of workers. The Council will also have achieved deregulation on all fronts. This must be stopped.
